This Week’s Meeting: Where Creativity, Mindfulness & Healing Intersect

Our presentation explores how therapy, mindfulness, and creativity can intersect to support healing and personal well-being.

Participants will receive an overview of ways creativity and nature can be incorporated into reflective and therapeutic practices, followed by a guided painting experience designed as a form of moving meditation. The focus is not on artistic perfection, but rather on enjoyment, presence, self-expression, and letting go.

Meet Our Presenter:

Dorothy Smith is an LCSW and artist who owns and operates Wellness Arts Counseling, LLC, offering both Walk & Talk and virtual therapy services throughout Virginia. In her work with creative clients, she encourages the integration of artistic expression into the therapeutic process as a means of self-exploration and personal insight. Unlike traditional art therapy, where the therapist interprets the artwork, Dorothy’s approach empowers clients to explore their own experiences and emotions through their chosen creative mediums, including painting, music, poetry, and more.
