An Evening at Newsies
One of the most rewarding aspects of The Meredith House is watching connections formed within our walls extend into the broader community. This past Saturday evening, a group of Meredith House members gathered at the Hylton Performing Arts Center to attend a performance of Newsies, featuring fellow members Jimmy Edwards in the cast and Christina Brooks on costumes.
The performance itself was outstanding—energetic, inspiring, and a testament to the remarkable talent that exists right here in our community. Yet what made the evening especially meaningful was seeing members come together to support one another beyond the club.
At The Meredith House, we often speak about the value of building authentic relationships. While networking certainly has its place, the strongest communities are built when people show up for one another. Saturday’s outing was a wonderful example of that spirit in action. Members weren’t simply attending a show; they were celebrating a fellow member’s accomplishment and demonstrating the kind of encouragement that helps our community thrive.
The evening also provided an opportunity to support two organizations that contribute significantly to the cultural vitality of Prince William County. The Hylton Performing Arts Center continues to serve as a premier destination for performing arts in our region, while ARTfactory’s production of Newsies showcased the incredible creativity and dedication of local artists, performers, volunteers, and staff.
Supporting the arts is about more than attending a performance. It is an investment in the cultural fabric of our community, helping to ensure that future generations continue to have access to meaningful artistic experiences and opportunities for creative expression.
As a club dedicated to fostering friendships, shared interests, and community engagement, The Meredith House is proud to see members supporting fellow members and championing the organizations that enrich life in Greater Prince William.
We extend our congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Newsies, and especially to our fellow member whose performance made the evening all the more special.
Moments like these remind us that The Meredith House is more than a place to gather—it is a community that celebrates, encourages, and supports one another both inside and outside our doors.
