Constructed circa 1890, The Meredith House was one of two identical Victorian homes built just blocks apart. Originally the private residence of a successful local attorney, it was a proud symbol of growth during a transformative era in Virginia’s post-Reconstruction history.
Over time, many historic structures in the region faded away. The Meredith House, however, remained—a rare survivor of its time.

In 2022, Architect Sean Porter, of Loveless Porter Architects, acquired The Meredith House with a vision to preserve and elevate its historic charm. Together with the Board, Porter undertook a careful renovation—reviving the home’s period details while introducing an immersive 1920s Art Deco design.The result is a striking transformation: a Prohibition-era speakeasy and members-only social club that embodies sophistication, creativity, and timeless appeal.
The Meredith House is more than a beautifully restored building—it’s a living artifact, a curated experience, and a space where the past meets the present. Every detail tells a story, from the vintage décor to the ambiance of exclusivity and elegance.
